Chris Mann’s new self-titled EP now available on iTunes

I had the recent privilege of mixing a wonderful song produced by Keith Thomas for Chris Mann called “Falling”, available now on iTunes as part of Chris Mann’s new self-titled EP. Click the link below to check it out:

D’Addario Strings

D’Addario Strings

I’ve been using D’Addario strings for quite some time and I just recently acquired an endorsement with them so I’m pleased to say I’ve joined the large and diverse family of D’Addario artists. I’ve used the XL nickel round wounds for quite some time and just recently became a fan of the EXP coated nickel round wounds due to their extended life and uncompromising tone (plus they come with a nifty extra high “E” string, although they’re starting to pile up). D’Addario’s EXP coated electric strings feel considerably less “coated” then other competing brands and their tone really holds up against their uncoated XL siblings in my opinion.

That reminds me, a few years back Guitar Center and Elixir got into a squabble so Guitar Center stopped carrying Elixir strings. The guy behind the counter at GC said, “dude, check out these new coated strings, they’re better than Elixirs.” While I typically don’t take anything prefaced with the word “dude” at face value, incredulously I bought a few packs and to my surprise when I opened them up they were JET BLACK…the whole 6 strings. Apparently he mistook me for a goth with a Warwick shaped like an axe but somehow they just didn’t look right on a red semi-hollow body. With the tone and feel of dull pastic, a pile of black sawdust on my soundboard, and the aesthetic appeal of rust I was pretty wary of any company offering a “coated string” after that until I tried these EXPs. It makes you wonder, do some companies even try their own products? –JC
